Dear Me .....

..... love from Me x

Hello

It's not very often that I make something for myself
but when your hot~water bottle looks like this

Something MUST surely be done
SO
I got busy
and made myself a patchwork cover for the ugly rubber thing
and now it's MUCH prettier

(Sorry about my photos ..... the light has been so drab)

I'm pretty happy with it
and it's perfect for these chilly January evenings.

Some~lovely~body took quite a fancy to it .....

I bet you can't guess who!

I really didn't mind though

there were a couple of issues
mainly with the shape of mine
that I wanted to tweak

A 'summer meadow' was her brief for the colour~way

and of course it had to have a bee
her emblem!

I'm thrilled with the tweaked shape
and I just loved making them
(although they are mighty time~consuming)
I can see a few more happening soon.

I absolutely ADORE playing with patchwork

always have. always will
so many possibilities .....

Something exciting is beginning around here .....
we have plans for a new kitchen
well, we almost have plans.
I can hardly contain my excitement
we moved here four years ago
and the kitchen is tired and dark and old and very brown
it's due some love and an 'updation'

I've been gathering inspiration on Pinterest
and we've been planning ideas together
and chatting to the men in the know
SO Exciting!
I feel like a VERY lucky girl.

There will be updates!

Thank you so much for popping by today
I LOVE it that you do
and thank you too for so many kind comments on my last post

Stay warm & cosy
Back soon

BIG love
x Jooles x

  3. Oh how lovely! I love them both. I have such a soft spot for a hot water bottle.....so comforting in this cold drab weather! Your work is exquisite Jooles. I too am having a new kitchen put in soon, although yours sounds more fun than mine! Our kitchen is small but it's already a headache! I just want to close my eyes and it all be done! Hopefully the result will be better than what we currently are putting up with! ha ha!

Have a super rest of a week

  6. Oh so pretty! You actually won't need a hot water bottle, those pretties make you warm just by looking at them ;-)! Good luck with everything concerning the kitchen....

  8. Very pretty - I love it! And it's always good to do something for yourself!
Good luck with the kitchen. Having renovated it 2 years ago I know how tiresome it can be. x

  9. Good Morning Jooles, I just stopped my Monday house cleaning to take a break and do some blogging. I'm so happy that your blog was on my list to visit. Your water bottle cover is so pretty . . . too pretty to hide under the blankets :) I love your ideas for your new kitchen and congratulations. It will be wonderful. There is nothing prettier than a white kitchen. kitchens should be bright, cheerful and clean . . . Those dark-wood designer kitchens just don't do it for me. Have a lovely day and keep sewing: your projects are adorable.

  10. Hi Jooles - the hot water bottle covers are really pretty. I have red fuzzy fur over mine which is less pretty but cosy all the same! I am liking the idea of having the white surround over the window in the kitchen. I wish I had thought of that to cheer up my current kitchen (put in by the builder 17yrs ago and out of date then!!) As we are moving in the next couple of months I am going to put that idea in my archives in case I can use it in my new house. xxx

  12. Those hot water bottles are beautiful! And, we also have plans afoot for a new kitchen! It must be the season for it, as I just read on cocorose's blog that she is also having a new kitchen... lots of chaos ahead, but it'll be worth it in the end!

  13. Hi Jooles, the hot water bottle covers are so pretty and I love the cross-stitch panels. I haven't done any cross-stitch for years, but you've inspired me to get out my embroidery silks! Good luck with the kitchen planning and what an exciting start to the new year, lucky lucky you! Have a good week.

I'd really love to make one, I even have the Tilda charm pack, perhaps I could work on it a bit during a quilting morning? Sweet B must be over the moon with hers! Cxxx

  15. Hello Lovely Jooles, I adore your hot water bottle cover, I am drooling over it in fact. I love this style but haven't the confidence yet to try one for myself. I am busy trying to crochet one at present but with work it is very slow going. I would love to try one like yours, maybe soon..........thanks for a wonderful post Jooles, always love your blog and can't wait to see your new kitchen, how exciting. Have a fabulous Tuesday Jooles, lots of love

  16. Hey Jooles- I LOVE your hotwater bottle holder. Those colors just thrill me . . . so so pretty. Gosh, you are so talented!
I can only imagine how exciting a new kitchen to be is . . . how do you even sleep at night? I long to remodel my kitchen, but it never seems like the right time for us. There is always something far more pressing that we have to deal with :( However, my excitement is that our awful, ugly kitchen sink has a horrible crack in it and we are forced to replace it! Hooray!!!
I can't wait to see how your kitchen goes- I'm sure it will be beautiful. (I'm loving the bits you cut out!)

  26. Oh, these are so pretty and feminine. I never use a hot water bottle (unless my back has "gone" which thankfully has not happened for a couple of years) but I would if I had a cover like this. Or maybe I would just casually toss it on the end of the bed after I'd made it, and leave it there to admire all day long... The beauty is in your eye for colour, your choice of fabrics and your very skilled embroidery. You should put these in your shop! xx
